I have a thing about porcupines. They're freakin' adorable.
Porcupines are pretty harmless. You just need to respect the quills and usually you can get a good look at one. You'll know when the porcupine is uncomfortable just by how his quills lay on his back. I'm not an expert, but I'm just going by my own experience. I've read that a porcupine really doesnt' have good eye sight .. very near sighted. So if you're in the right wind direction, he may not even know you're there.
I enjoy finding them in the woods and talking to them. They probably think "what the hell, lady. I just want to eat some leaves"
When I created this piece, I wanted to capture the sweetest, cutest, quilled creature of the forest that goes about his vegetarian ways.. just minding his own business. I think by added some ink to this piece, I was able to do that.. especially in his little snout.
I hope you're lucky enough to see one in the woods one day.
