Christine Winship is The Pedigree Artist

I don't want to paint just the likeness of the animal but the connection to it. Many animals remind us to live life to the fullest, to experience the simplest joys, to live in the moment, and to survive. My goal in my art is to convey these things to the canvas and hopefully share them with the viewer.

To me, a successful piece of art is one that makes one walk away feeling an emotion, moved in a way. When I paint, I try to evoke a true feeling in the viewer. Whether we realize it or not, animals are a big part of our lives. The beauty of a mule deer on the prairie, the silliness of a golden retriever puppy, the delicateness of a monarch butterfly—these are the things that inspire me.

I feel that many people are losing touch with nature and, as a result, become depressed, anxious, or even angry. Just getting out into nature is such a stress relief. I hope that by painting some of my photos from my own adventures, I can bring that relaxation into the canvas and eventually into someone's life.
